Thermal technology converts any object or surface into a touchscreen

An astonishing new technology, Thermal Touch, converts any object or surface into a touchscreen. The entire world suddenly becomes clickable and interactive.

You can order an item seen in a magazine by touching the photo, or play virtual chess on an empty table.

This could be the type of device that brings Augmented Reality to everyday life.

At present the prototype requires two cameras: an infrared thermal camera to sense the users' body movements, and a visible light camera.

When the user touches something, traces of residual heat are detected by the infrared camera and interpreted by the software as a click.

Connected, or better, integrated to Google Glass or any other type of smart eyewear Thermal Touch would revolutionize the way we interact with our environment and other people - perhaps even more so that smartphones did.

The company announced that Thermal Touch won't be available the general public for another five years, so we'll have to be patient.
